Summary

CVE-2024-36081 is a vulnerability affecting Westermo EDW-100 devices up to and including the version from 2024-05-03. This issue enables unauthenticated users to download a configuration file containing cleartext passwords. As a precaution, these serial-to-Ethernet converters should not be deployed at the network edge due to the potential risks associated with this vulnerability. The cleartext passwords in the configuration files pose a significant security threat if compromised. Users are advised to apply the necessary patches as soon as possible to mitigate this issue.
