Summary

CVE-2024-5612 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the Essential Addons for Elementor Pro plugin used on WordPress websites. ThisStored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, occurring in the Lightbox & Modal widget's 'eael_lightbox_open_btn_icon' parameter, allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious web scripts. These scripts will execute whenever an unsuspecting user accesses an affected page, posing a significant security risk. Versions of the plugin up to and including 5.8.15 are vulnerable to this exploit, which stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. As of now, it is crucial for WordPress users to update their Essential Addons for Elementor Pro plugins to the latest version to mitigate this vulnerability.
