Summary

CVE-2024-5165 is a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Eclipse Ditto versions 3.0.0 to 3.5.5. The issue lies in the user interface (UI) of Eclipse Ditto Explorer <https://eclipse.dev/ditto/user-interface.html>. Reflected XSS vulnerabilities exploit user inputs that are not properly neutralized, and in this case, several inputs were not saved at the backend but only in local browser storage. Stored XSS vulnerabilities occur when user inputs are saved at the backend, and in Eclipse Ditto, authenticated and authorized users can persist Things, which, when displayed to other users, can execute scripts in their browsers.
