Summary

CVE-2024-5141 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Rotating Tweets plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 1.9.10, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject malicious web scripts that execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This poses a significant security risk, as it could lead to unauthorized data access or manipulation, as well as potential site defacement or account takeover. Users are advised to update the plugin to the latest version to mitigate this vulnerability.
