Summary

CVE-2024-4871 is a security vulnerability affecting Satellite. It permits man-in-the-middle attacks due to the lack of SSH key verification during remote execution jobs. Satellite uses the option "-o StrictHostKeyChecking=no," which bypasses normal host key checks. This omission can lead to MITM attacks, denial of service, or unauthorized access to secrets contained in the remote execution jobs. The vulnerability does not directly enable unauthorized remote execution on Satellite but may facilitate it via the obtained secrets.
