Summary

CVE-2024-4418 is a vulnerability affecting libvirt, where a race condition leads to a stack use-after-free issue. In the `virNetClientIOEventLoop()` method, the `data` pointer to a `virNetClientIOEventData` structure is mistakenly utilized in the `virNetClientIOEventFD` callback, even though the data pointer's stack frame is being freed at the same time. This flaw in the 'virtproxyd' daemon enables local, unprivileged users to access it without authentication. Although remote users need to authenticate before they can access the affected system, this vulnerability, in theory, may enable escaping the imposed access restrictions.
