Summary
CVE-2024-42238 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel. It involves the cs_dsp driver where a block header overflow in firmware files could lead to processing beyond the end of the data. Previously, the code in cs_dsp_load() and cs_dsp_load_coeff() would protect against overrunning file data but not abort with an error. Now, cs_dsp_power_up() returns an error if a block header exceeds the remaining data in the file, preventing potential file processing errors.
