Summary
CVE-2024-42230 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel on pseries architecture. The issue arises due to the way kexec is handled, causing scv instructions to be executed after AIL (reloc_on_exc) is disabled. Consequently, this leads to an interrupt at an unexpected entry location, resulting in a kernel crash. To address this, the sequence for disabling AIL has been modified to occur after other CPUs have been shut down. Notably, the real-mode scv interrupt vector, located at 0x17000, couldn't be supported in the fixed code due to its high address.
