Summary
CVE-2024-42082: In the Linux kernel, a non-critical warning in the function __xdp_reg_mem_model has been identified and removed. The warning occurred during memory allocation failures in the function __mem_id_init_hash_table. Although the second condition causing the warning cannot happen due to a static const rhashtable_params struct, the warning was unnecessary and could be safely removed. This vulnerability was discovered using syzkaller and reported by the Linux Verification Center. The kernel version affected is 6.8.0-syzkaller-05271-gf99c5f563c17. The warning occurred during the execution of the syz-executor883 process.
