Summary

CVE-2024-4182 is a vulnerability affecting Mattermost versions 9.6.0, 9.5.x before 9.5.3, 9.4.x before 9.4.5, and 8.1.x before 8.1.12. This issue arises due to the software's inability to properly handle JSON parsing errors in custom status values. An authenticated attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a malformed custom status to other users. Consequently, their web clients will crash, leading to a denial-of-service condition.
