Summary

CVE-2024-32478 is a vulnerability affecting Git Credential Manager (GCM) before version 2.5.0. The Debian package for this software fails to set root ownership on installed files, leaving them accessible to user 101 on multi-user systems. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by replacing the binary file, potentially gaining privileges of other users. This issue is remedied in version 2.5.0, which properly sets file ownership to mitigate this risk.
