Summary

CVE-2024-32019 is a vulnerability affecting the Netdata observability tool. In impacted versions, the `ndsudo` utility bundled with the Netdata Agent can be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary programs with root permissions. The `ndsudo` tool is installed as a root-owned executable with the SUID bit set, enabling it to run a limited set of external commands using the attacker-supplied `PATH` environment variable. An attacker can manipulate this variable to point to a directory under their control, potentially leading to local privilege escalation. Version 1.45.3 and 1.45.2-169 are the recommended upgrades for users to mitigate this vulnerability, and no known workarounds are available.
