Summary

CVE-2024-31989 is a vulnerability affecting Argo CD, a popular continuous delivery tool for Kubernetes. The issue arises due to an unsecured Redis server, which is accessible on port 6379 even from unprivileged pods in different namespaces on the same cluster. Although the latest version of the VPC CNI plugin has been installed on EKS clusters, network policies need to be manually enabled to restrict access. This oversight increases the risk of Privilege Escalation to cluster controller levels or data leaks for Redis instances with insufficient access controls. The vulnerability has been addressed in versions 2.8.19, 2.9.15, and 2.10.10.
