Summary

CVE-2024-29026 is a vulnerability affecting Owncast, an open-source, self-hosted live video streaming and chat server. Versions 0.1.2 and earlier of the software are impacted by a lenient CORS policy, which enables attackers to make cross-origin requests and access privileged information, including the admin password. This issue has been rectified in commit 9215d9ba0f29d62201d3feea9e77dcd274581624. By relaxing the CORS policy, attackers can potentially gain unauthorized access to sensitive data, posing a significant security risk to users of Owncast. It is recommended that users of these affected versions upgrade to the latest version to mitigate this vulnerability.
