Summary

CVE-2024-2848 is a critical vulnerability affecting the Responsive theme for WordPress. This issue arises due to a missing capability check in the save_footer_text_callback function, which is present in all versions up to and including 5.0.2. Consequently, unauthenticated attackers can exploit this vulnerability to modify data and inject arbitrary HTML content into the site's footer. This poses a significant security risk, as it may lead to unintended functionality or even data theft. To mitigate this risk, users are advised to update their WordPress theme to a patched version as soon as possible.
