Summary

CVE-2024-28249 is a vulnerability affecting Cilium, a networking, observability, and security solution. In specific scenarios with IPsec enabled and Layer 7 policies, traffic between a node's Envoy proxy and pods, as well as traffic between the node's DNS proxy and pods on other nodes, remains unencrypted. This issue occurs prior to versions 1.13.13, 1.14.8, and 1.15.2. Consequently, sensitive data transmitted during these communications may be vulnerable to interception. Users are advised to upgrade to Cilium versions 1.15.2, 1.14.8, or 1.13.13 to mitigate the issue as no known workaround exists.
