Summary

CVE-2024-28246 is a vulnerability affecting KaTeX, a JavaScript library used for rendering TeX math on the web. Malicious inputs containing uppercase characters in the URL protocol can bypass the `trust` option in KaTeX, which is supposed to block certain URL protocols. This issue can result in the generation of `javascript:` links in the output, despite the `trust` function's attempt to restrict this protocol. Upgrading to KaTeX version 0.16.10 is recommended to address this vulnerability. Users should be cautious when processing user-generated content to prevent potential exploitation.
