Summary
CVE-2024-27317 is a directory traversal vulnerability affecting Apache Pulsar's Functions Worker and Broker. Authenticated users can exploit this issue by uploading malicious jar or nar files, which, if not properly validated, may contain special characters altering the extraction directory path. This could enable an attacker to create or modify files outside of the designated directory, potentially impacting system behavior. Affected versions include 2.4.0 to 2.10.5, 2.11.0 to 2.11.3, 3.0.0 to 3.0.2, 3.1.0 to 3.1.2, and 3.2.0. Pulsar Function Worker users are advised to upgrade to at least 2.10.6, 2.11.4, 3.0.3, 3.1.3, and 3.2.1, respectively. Those using older versions should upgrade to the listed patched versions or newer ones.
