Summary

CVE-2024-26587 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel that could lead to a crash when trying to destroy netdevsim with Virtual Functions (VFs) instantiated. The issue arises due to a null pointer dereference in the mock_phc_destroy function, which is called during the destruction of netdevsim. To mitigate this issue, a counterpart of nsim_init_netdevsim() has been created, and mock_phc_destroy() has been moved there. This fix prevents the crash and ensures the proper destruction of netdevsim with VFs instantiated.
