Summary

CVE-2024-25140 reveals that RustDesk 1.2.3's default installation on Windows places a WDKTestCert certificate under Trusted Root Certification Authorities with an Enhanced Key Usage of Code Signing. This certificate, valid from 2023 to 2033, poses a risk as there's no documented security for its private key. Malicious software could be signed if the private key is compromised. Contrary to concerns, the vendor maintains that this was the intended behavior, and the certificate installation step was initially visible to users during product installation.
