Summary

CVE-2024-25128 is a vulnerability affecting Flask-AppBuilder, a framework built on Flask for application development. When Flask-AppBuilder is configured with AUTH_TYPE set to AUTH_OID, it allows an attacker to forge HTTP requests, potentially tricking the backend into using a malicious OpenID service. This vulnerability, if exploited, could grant unauthorized privilege access to an attacker if they deploy a custom OpenID service that the backend can reach. The risk is heightened only when the application uses the OpenID 2.0 authorization protocol. To mitigate this issue, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest version of Flask-AppBuilder, which is 4.3.11.
