Details
Summary
CVE-2024-2500 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the ColorMag theme for WordPress. The flaw, present in all versions up to 3.1.6, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts into a user's Display Name. These scripts are then executed whenever the injected page is accessed, posing a significant threat to website security and user privacy. This vulnerability occurs due to the theme's insufficient input sanitization and output escaping mechanisms, making it essential for WordPress users to update their ColorMag theme to a patched version as soon as possible.
