Summary

CVE-2024-24814 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting mod_auth_openidc, an OpenID Connect module for the Apache 2.x HTTP server. The issue lies in insufficient input validation of the mod_auth_openidc_session_chunks cookie value. Malicious actors can exploit this flaw by manipulating the cookie value to trigger excessive server processing or crashes, leading to a denial-of-service condition. The vulnerability can be mitigated by upgrading to version 2.4.15.2, as no known workarounds are available.
