Summary

CVE-2024-24680 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting Django versions 3.2 before 3.2.24, 4.2 before 4.2.10, and Django 5.0 before 5.0.2. The intcomma template filter in these versions is vulnerable to a denial-of-service attack. When this filter is used with unusually long strings, it can cause the application to consume excessive system resources and potentially crash. A malicious actor could exploit this issue by crafting a specially crafted input to trigger the denial-of-service condition, leading to application downtime and potential performance degradation. Users are advised to upgrade to the patched versions to mitigate this risk.
