CVE-2024-23826

Summary

CVE-2024-23826 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the spbu-se-site, the website of the Department of System Programming at St. Petersburg State University. Before the 2024.01.29 release, an authenticated user could intentionally use a large Unicode filename when uploading an avatar image. This would result in a server-side denial-of-service under Windows due to the lack of a filename length limitation and the costly use of Unicode normalization with the form NFKD on Windows OS. This vulnerability was addressed and fixed in the 2024.01.29 release.
