Summary

CVE-2024-23823 is a vulnerability affecting the vantage6 open-source framework. The framework, which supports privacy enhancing technologies like Federated Learning and Multi-Party Computation, is compromised due to the vantage6 server's lack of Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) restrictions. This issue allows unauthorized parties to set the server's allowed origins, potentially leading to data leaks or unauthorized access. However, the impact is mitigated as vantage6 does not utilize session cookies. The vulnerability has been addressed in commit `70bb4e1d8` and is expected to be resolved in upcoming releases. Users are strongly advised to upgrade as soon as a new version becomes available, and there are currently no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
