Summary

CVE-2024-23688: Consensys Discovery, a popular Ethereum discovery tool, has been identified with a session key exposure vulnerability. Affected versions below 0.4.5 use the same AES/GCM nonce for the entire session, which should ideally be unique for every message. This issue exposes the session key generated for specific peer communication, but it does not compromise the node's private key. Attackers could potentially intercept and decrypt sensitive information exchanged during the session. Users are advised to update to the latest version, 0.4.5, to mitigate this risk.
