Summary

CVE-2024-23659 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting SPIP versions 4.1.13 and older, as well as 4.2.x before 4.2.8. This XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) issue enables an attacker to inject malicious code into a webpage by manipulating the name of an uploaded file. The vulnerability stems from the javascript/bigup.js and javascript/bigup.utils.js components within SPIP. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to steal sensitive user information or take control of a user's session. Users are strongly advised to update their SPIP installations to the latest stable versions to mitigate this risk.
