Summary
CVE-2024-23385 is a newly disclosed vulnerability that can cause a Transient Denial of Service (DoS) attack on User Equipment (UE) in cellular networks. This vulnerability arises when the UE encounters an unexpected MAC Random Access Request (RAR) packet with an invalid PDU (Protocol Data Unit) length. The UE's response to this packet results in a modem reset, causing a temporary disruption in service. Attackers can potentially exploit this vulnerability by flooding the UE with such packets, leading to a denial of service condition. This issue can impact cellular network performance and availability, making it essential for network operators to implement appropriate countermeasures.
