Summary

CVE-2024-23218 is a timing side-channel vulnerability affecting macOS Sonoma 14.2 and older, watchOS 10.2 and older, tvOS 17.2 and older, iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2. An attacker could potentially decrypt legacy RSA PKCS#1 v1.5 ciphertexts without obtaining the private key, by exploiting weak constant-time computations in cryptographic functions. Apple has released patches for macOS Sonoma 14.3, watchOS 10.3, tvOS 17.3, iOS 17.3, and iPadOS 17.3, addressing this issue and improving overall system security.
