Summary

CVE-2024-2313 is a vulnerability affecting bpftrace, a Linux tracing tool. The issue lies in bpftrace's attempt to load kernel headers from a temporary directory, which can be exploited by an unprivileged attacker to load compromised headers. This forces bcc (bpf-compiler-collection) to use the malicious headers, potentially leading to significant security implications. Linux distributions that do not provide kernel headers by default are not susceptible to this vulnerability by default.
