Summary

CVE-2024-2256 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the oik plugin for WordPress. The issue lies in the plugin's shortcodes, including bw_contact_button and bw_button, which do not properly sanitize and escape user-supplied attributes. This flaw enables authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher to inject malicious web scripts into pages. Upon accessing an injected page, these scripts will be executed, potentially leading to unintended functionality, data theft, or further exploitation. Versions of the plugin up to and including 4.10.0 are vulnerable to this issue.
