Summary

CVE-2024-22422 is a Denial of Service vulnerability affecting AnythingLLM, an application used to turn documents into references for LLMs during chats. In unpatched versions, an unauthenticated attacker can exploit a flaw in the file export API route, which allows them to crash the server by tricking the input filter mechanism to access the current directory. This endpoint, which is publicly accessible and does not require authentication, can cause the server to crash with a single HTTP packet, resulting in a Denial of Service attack. Users are advised to upgrade to the patched version, as there are currently no known workarounds for this issue.
