Summary

CVE-2024-21885 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting the X.Org server. Specifically, an issue was found in the XISendDeviceHierarchyEvent function. When certain new device IDs are added to the xXIHierarchyInfo struct, the function can exceed the allocated array length. Consequently, this can result in a heap buffer overflow, potentially leading to an application crash or even remote code execution, posing a significant risk in SSH X11 forwarding environments.
