Summary

CVE-2024-21836 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the GGUF library's header.n_tensors functionality in llama.cpp. The issue is a heap-based buffer overflow that can be triggered by a maliciously crafted .gguf file. This vulnerability could potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code upon receipt of a specially crafted input file. Despite being committed in 18c2e17, the existence and impact of this issue were not previously known. Users are advised to apply patches or upgrades as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
