Summary

CVE-2024-21664 is a vulnerability affecting the jwx Go module, which implements various JSON Web Signature (JWS) technologies. If a JSON serialized payload with an absent "protected" field but a present "signature" field is passed to the `jws.Parse` function, the resulting nil pointer dereference can lead to a crash or Denial of Service (DoS) attack during JWS verification. This vulnerability has been addressed in versions 2.0.19 and 1.2.28 of the jwx module.
