Summary

CVE-2024-21628 is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the PrestaShop open-source e-commerce platform before version 8.1.3. The isCleanHtml method, which is intended to sanitize user input and prevent XSS attacks, is not used for a specific form. This oversight enables attackers to inject malicious HTML code into the database. Although the HTML is not interpreted in the back office, it poses a risk when displayed in the front office (FO). The impact is limited to the customer sending the attack or their session. This issue only affects users with modules that fetch and display messages from the database without proper HTML escaping. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 8.1.3 with a patch.
