Summary

CVE-2024-21601 is a race condition vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series, specifically in the Flow-processing Daemon (flowd). This issue allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS) by exploiting a concurrent execution vulnerability when two threads attempt to process a shared queue used for TCP events. The exploitation of this vulnerability is outside the attacker's direct control, and continued exploitation leads to a sustained DoS. Affected versions include 21.2R3-S5 and later, 21.3R3-S5 and later, 21.4R3-S4 and later, 21.4R3, 22.1R3-S3 and later, 22.2R3-S1 and later, 22.2R3, 22.3R2-S2 and later, and 22.3R3. Versions of Juniper Networks Junos OS earlier than 21.2R1 are not affected.
