Summary

CVE-2024-21496 is a Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting all versions of the package github.com/greenpau/caddy-security. The issue arises due to insufficient input sanitization of the Referer header. While some characters that can enable XSS are escaped, the vulnerability remains exploitable through the JavaScript URL scheme. Successful exploitation could result in the execution of malicious scripts in the target user's browser, potentially compromising their sessions. Despite the complexity in exploiting this vulnerability, it poses a significant security risk.
