Summary

CVE-2024-20998 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting MySQL Server versions 8.0.36 and prior, as well as 8.3.0 and prior (Oracle MySQL, Server: Optimizer component). This issue allows high privileged attackers with network access to exploit it via multiple protocols, leading to a hang or frequent crashes of the MySQL Server, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. The base score of CVSS 3.1 for this vulnerability is 4.9, with an Availability impact.
