Summary

CVE-2024-20312 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS) protocol in Cisco IOS Software and Cisco IOS XE Software. An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker can exploit insufficient input validation in parsing an ingress IS-IS packet. By sending a crafted packet, the attacker may cause the affected device to reload, leading to a denial of service condition. Note that the IS-IS protocol is a routing protocol, and an attacker must be Layer 2-adjacent to the device and have formed an adjacency to exploit this vulnerability.
