Summary

CVE-2024-20303 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the multicast DNS (mDNS) gateway feature of Cisco IOS XE Software for Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs). An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker can cause high CPU utilization on the wireless controller by sending a continuous stream of specific mDNS packets. This issue arises due to improper management of mDNS client entries. The consequence of a successful exploit is wireless access points (APs) losing their connection to the controller, leading to a DoS condition.
