Details
Summary
CVE-2024-20265 is a vulnerability affecting the boot process of Cisco Access Point (AP) Software. An unauthenticated, physical attacker can manipulate the boot process at the console, bypassing the Cisco Secure Boot functionality. The issue arises due to the availability of unnecessary commands during boot time. An attacker can exploit this by interrupting the boot process and executing specific commands, enabling the loading of a tampered software image. Once this image is loaded, the attacker gains the ability to bypass the Secure Boot validation checks, allowing them to execute malicious code. However, it's important to note that the Cisco Secure Boot functionality is not permanently compromised.
