Summary

CVE-2024-1894 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Burst Statistics – Privacy-Friendly Analytics plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 1.5.6.1 are susceptible to this issue. The vulnerability arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'burst_total_pageviews_count' custom meta field. This flaw enables authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. The scripts execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, but only if the victim has the 'Show Toolbar when viewing site' option enabled in their profile.
