Summary

CVE-2024-1802: The EmbedPress plugin for WordPress, used for embedding PDFs, Google Docs, Vimeo, Wistia, YouTube videos, audios, maps, and documents in Gutenberg and Elementor, is susceptible to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). This vulnerability, affecting all versions up to 3.9.10, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied URLs in the Wistia embed block. Authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can exploit this weakness by injecting arbitrary web scripts. The executed scripts will run whenever an affected user accesses an injected page.
