Summary

CVE-2024-1761 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the WP Chat App plugin for WordPress. Versions up to 3.6.1 are impacted by this issue. The flaw lies in the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes, namely 'buttonColor' and 'phoneNumber', within the plugin's widget/block. This weakness allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious web scripts into pages, leading to the execution of arbitrary code whenever an infected page is accessed.
