Summary

CVE-2024-1454 is a use-after-free vulnerability discovered in the AuthentIC driver of OpenSC packages. This issue arises during the card enrolment process when a user or administrator modifies cards using pkcs15-init. For an attacker to exploit this vulnerability, they must have physical access to the computer system and present it with a specially crafted USB device or smart card. The complexity of the manipulation required makes the exploit low severity, but the potential consequence is compromised card management operations during enrolment.
