Summary

CVE-2024-1335 is a newly disclosed vulnerability in the ImageRecycle plugin used in WordPress websites. This issue allows unauthenticated attackers to perform Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks against administrators. By tricking an administrator into clicking a malicious link, the attacker can disable the image optimization setting, potentially leaving the website open to further attacks. The vulnerability exists due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the disableOptimization function, affecting all versions of ImageRecycle up to, and including, 3.1.13. This poses a significant risk to WordPress sites using the ImageRecycle plugin and urges immediate attention from administrators to update or patch their installation.
