Summary

CVE-2024-1049 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the CoBlocks plugin for WordPress, specifically its Icon Widget. This issue impacts versions up to and including 3.1.6. The weakness lies in insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on the link value, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. Consequentially, these scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it can lead to unintended and potentially harmful actions for unsuspecting users.
