Summary

CVE-2024-0966 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Shariff Wrapper plugin used in WordPress websites. In versions up to 4.6.9, user-supplied attributes like 'info_text' in the plugin's 'shariff' shortcode are not properly sanitized or escaped, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts. These scripts are executed whenever a user visits an injected page and clicks the information icon, potentially leading to data theft or unintended functionality.
